About the Author
A proud Latina author, Wanda Arleen Barajas writes children's stories rooted in heart, resilience, culture, and connection. With a background in journalism and public relations, Wanda has spent years writing for newspapers, magazines, and corporate publications, developing a voice that is both thoughtful and genuinely human.
Her debut children's book, Benny the Brave: A Story of Love, Loss, and Learning, was inspired by her family's real-life journey with their rescue dog, Benny, whose courage after a serious accident acted as the heart of a gentle story about love, healing, and emotional strength. Her second book, Carina and Sabi: A Journey to the Heart of Cidra, expands her storytelling into themes of culture, family, nature, and belonging, set against the beauty of the town of Cidra, Puerto Rico, and its traditions.
Through her books, Wanda hopes to create meaningful stories that help children feel validated, supported, and inspired. Her writing encourages young readers to cherish kindness, honor their roots, care for the world around them, and find courage in daily moments.
Wanda lives in sunny California with her beloved dogs, Benny and Luna. All three — Benny, Luna, and Mylo — were lovingly featured in Benny the Brave, and in July 2026, Mylo crossed the Rainbow Bridge. His joyful spirit, unconditional love, and cherished memories continue to inspire her creative world and will always remain part of her home, heart, and stories. When she is not writing, Wanda enjoys spending time with family, designing personalized gifts, and sharing uplifting stories that bring hearts together.
